The road to 2010 world Cup began in Zurich, during the announcement of South Africa, the host country. South Africa will host a safety and secure World Cup. These are the words articulated by Organizing Committee CEO Dr. Danny Jordan. The country is proud to be hosting a great tournament on African continent. SABC as the main broadcast with Feel it, It is here echoes from grassroots level to the Uptown settlement on African continent. Recently the host country’ national team Bafana Bafana played against Thailand with 4 goals from Bafana Bafana and zero on Thailand during the official opening of Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. 40 000 Bafana Bafana fans showed support. The road to 2010 World Cup is closer; Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit has something to offer for fans. Bafana Bafana is determined to make it on June 11, at newly renovated Soccer City Stadium during their first opening match against Mexico. Fifteen thousand Mexican fans are expected against 75 000 green and yellow South African fans.
Back to the Soccer City, Johannesburg famous for its gold will see many players from all over the world coming together at the Soccer City Stadium which will host the opening and the closing matches. The readiness of the stadium is not fully done with some few finishing lines and final touches the stadium promises to be the best on African continent. The unveiling of the 32 teams buses each branded is equipped. The first team to arrive on the 26 of May is Australia followed by the Brazil. Each team will receive two buses during the tournament. Eyes of the world and leaders of the world will be gathered on African soil to witness the greatest tournament of them all. History will be made in South Africa. It’s going to be intense peoples World Cup. It is going to be the people’s World Cup every game will be a great occasion. Transport will be the hub of the world Cup. Down the road South Africa has just opened two newly built major airports; Gautrain will be able to transport people from the O.R Tambo International airport to the Sandton within fifteen minutes. A bus rapid transport system which is also safe and convenient will transport fans to and from the stadium. Those who would like to travel by train; the system has been made easy to and from the stadium. Pack and ride and pack and walk systems will be available on every host city. Fan packs will be open on every match day, for those fans that would love to watch the games and cannot access the stadiums. These fan pack includes live screening of the match and entertainments with tons of beers and food on sale. They are all over South Africa and in other major countries around the World. Fans will be able to enjoy the games at their comfort at these fan parks and viewing grounds. Sony Corporation has joined forces to provide football fans with new viewing experience. It will be the first time ever for the FIFA World Cup to be filmed in 3D. Volunteers are ready to welcome the World on their arrival. The International broadcast center based in Johannesburg has recently opened for operation and promises to deliver the news to the world. This is the first and only International broadcast center in Africa. The Joyous Joburg is proudly to be the host city.
Fans that will be in South Africa on the 10th of June they will experience the first and ever FIFA Music Fest, to be held on the eve of the opening match. Billed as the greatest entertainment show to date in Africa, it will feature performances from major international musicians and African artists, as well as appearances by football legends past and present and celebrities from other fields. This historic music event will take place in front of a capacity stadium audience of 30,000 will be broadcast to hundreds of millions more worldwide. It is scheduled to begin at 20.00 local time (GMT+2) on 10 June. FIFA and Control Room, a leading producer of global music events, announced the first performing artists for the inaugural FIFA World Cup™ Kick-Off Celebration Concert. Alicia Keys, Amadou & Mariam, Angélique Kidjo, Black Eyed Peas, BLK JKS, John Legend, Juanes, Shakira, The Parlotones, Tinariwen, Vieux Farka Touré and Vusi Mahlasela other added artists Soweto gospel Choir,Hugh masekela, as well as African hip hop artist K’NAAN
All net proceeds from the concert will be donated to 20 Centres for 2010, the Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, whose aim is to achieve positive social change through football by building 20 centres across Africa offering education and healthcare services as well as football training to disadvantaged communities.
