AYISECACE: Weekend Special.

World On Press

This past weekend downtown Johanesburg was my hometown blooming Johannesburg Fashion Week and the crowning of Miss Sunbabe. It all started on Friday with my late arrival at the Bus Factory in Nutown at the fashion show of Bongiwe Walaza. Bongiwe Walaza bored us with her opening voice over, sounded like the 80’s nurse with a cap on. I only went to witness her print fabrics as always. The venue was on its capacity with the standing side full of gays and fashion goddess with some heavymen hairdo and fake fabrics to kill for. Bongi Ngema Zuma- first lady did late arrival with Mrs Motsepe who looks as if she just came from a late night out with friends.

Across the road Turbin Hall, beauty was flowing at the Crowing of Miss Sunbabe, attended by socialites and few celebrities, Tsidi of Malaika and Amstel looked cool in their soft fabric outfit. Tsidi with her Soweto haircut, a typical township magogo. Thato “Nicholas” the new kid from Generation is well received by Daily Sun readers... you can tell. Moving down this year Thula Sindi’s showcase at JFW a revelation of what is to come in the fashion industry. David Tlale should learn a think or two than being lazy to design.

Most Sundays people go to church some to fish men whilst others to make money. Melrose Arch Madame Zingare was the venue for this year’s SAFTAs first leg. The long VIP Red Carpet was too bright for some of us. Please organisers next time cut it short as there were no hire a crowd outside. It was quiet as if some great actor died though it meant to celebrate Mzansi‘s Film and TV muse. The venue reminded me of countryside old pub with everything inside including the fake outdoor rag of old extra large under wears. The stage was like the size of my grandmother’s favourite coffee table. Mica Stefano must have be the interior decor at Madame Zingare, the place has him written all over including the costume worn by the waiters. Guests were treated in style on the arrival and waiters themed into white characters such as country girl’s cowboys. Bored by co MC, Thami Ngubeni’s ear rings. Beautiful dress I must say. Next time do not put on tomato shape ear ring. I almost suffocated by 3 tons of fun ladies over singing and oversized. Love you big mamas but next time please work your voices.

This weekend second session of the 5th SAFTAs promises to be the best, though the venue is too small do not say I didn’t warn you bring your first aid kit you might need it. Catch us next time. AYISECACE!
